Among the discount airlines sector, Vision airlines is one of the fastest-growing carriers in the country. They cater largely to customers bound for the beaches of northwest Florida, and focus on jetting passengers to the Florida Panhandle and the exquisite Emerald Coast.

The recent BP oil spill in this region had scared some travelers away, but the beaches here remain sugar-sand white, among the best in the world. There is a regional airport that is only ten minutes from these beaches, but only about 3% of tourists fly into Destin/Ft. Walton Beach. The rest have to drive hundreds of miles to get there from larger airports in the state. Vision airlines is changing that situation by offering nonstop flights to an array of cities, many of which have not had previous direct service to the region. They are adding flights from Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Greenville/Spartanburg, Huntsville, Knoxville, Little Rock, Louisville, Macon and Savannah beginning March 25.
